I’ve seen that done - it can be tricky to get the timing perfect. With the ESP32 you could pair it over Bluetooth and do it that way - but that’s something for the future.
3.2 inches is at a bit of a sweet spot 320x240 fits a ZX Spectrum screen with a small border really nicely. Once you go bigger the resolution gets a bit annoying. The next step up 3.5 inches is normally 480x320 - which gives you either a very large border or really awkward scaling. Above that size the resolutions start to get big, but then we'd have to push a lot more pixels through to the display. And the price starts to go up as well. I've got an idea for the "expansion port" on the new design which will open up so options. But for now I want to focus on getting this version finalised.
There have a few failures. Most of them tried to get clever with licensing of games to bundle with the device which is a minefield. I’ll leave getting games up to you guys - there are plenty of places where they can be downloaded.
It would be cool to move all components besides the lcd to the other side of the board and a couple of dirt-cheap rubber feet. The end result would look much cleaner.
Can you add the option for tape loading via ear socket too?

Please consider bigger display
Even marginally bigger would be great.

Thank-you for the explanation.
Wasn't there a mini ZX that flopped? This looks much better. The fact that it's powered by the ESP32 is great-such a powerful little board.

Dude, I am SO ready for this... especially at the price point!
Really hoping I can hit the price. At the moment, it feels realistic. Crowd Supply have some great guidance on pricing: https://www.crowdsupply.com/guide/pricing-products
I think this is a very aggressive price. I will only speak for myself and say I'd pay more.
