Ended up being a very straightforward choice.
One of the displays has a ribbon cable that is designed for direct soldering to a PCB.
The other one is designed to fit into a socket (note the black stiffener):
So, we’re going to go with the second display as it will actually plug in and stay in. It does look very nice.
I’m still waiting to hear back from CrowdSupply - if you know someone there, maybe you can give them a nudge…
The advantage to the socket is, of course, being able to potentially swapping in other displays.
